A Season in Fragrance : Five for Autumn

Celtic Fire by Union

NOTES : PEAT, FIR BALSAM, PINE NEEDLES, OAK, MARMITE, BOG MYRTLE, BIRCH TAR, TEA, TOAST

A very convincing peat fire scent - powerful, but with a surprisingly delicate, sweet drydown.

Recommended for those who appreciate a challenge.

Coven by Andrea Maack

NOTES : OLD WOOD, GRASS, SOIL TINCTURE, OAKMOSS, PINE, WHISKEY, RHUBARB

An inventive, futuristic green, balancing lightness with heaviness - this scent is deep, dark, and fresh.

Not easy to wear, but worth it. I would smell like this all of the time, if I could.

Filles en Aiguilles by Serge Lutens

NOTES : RESIN, PINE NEEDLES, VETIVER, TREE SAP, LAUREL, FIR BALSAM, FRANKINCENSE

Pine does seem to be an on-going feature of this list. Remarkable, then, that all three pine scents are so different!

Classic but clever, this is a comforting, rather balsamic scent.

The Soft Lawn by Imaginary Authors

NOTES : LINDEN BLOSSOM, LAUREL LEAVES, IVY LEAVES, VETIVER, OAK MOSS, FRESH TENNIS BALLS, CLAY COURT

Unusual, but wearable - this has a slightly resinous, evergreen quality on my skin, which is very appealing. It is still fresh: but probably too thick for the height of summer; since the sillage and longevity is quite strong.

The clay is there, but I'm not getting any tennis balls...

Thirty-Three by Ex Idolo

NOTES : BLACK PEPPER, MANDARIN, CAOUTCHOUC, CHINESE WHITE TEA, CHINESE ROSE, TAIF ROSE, ORRIS, DAMASCUS STEEl, VINTAGE OUD, PATCHOULI, HELIOTROPIN

Rose and Oud is a timeless scent combination, and this fragrance matches them perfectly

The rose is true to life, cold and fragile; the oud warmly luxurious.
